The blond-haired person emoji first appeared in 2010, but has since then been largely replaced across most platforms by the gendered blond-haired man and blond-haired woman emojis. The “person” in question always appears male, and seems to be very young and without facial hair. The emoji’s hair is – as its name suggests – always a yellow blond, and this doesn’t change, even when skin tone modifications are used. The emoji is used in a wide range of contexts, including when wanting to refer to a general or specific boy. It can also be used in lieu of actually naming a boy, who is possibly the object of a secret crush.
